Archive of the HED

The Archive of the Croatian Ethnological Society contains chronologically categorized material related to the work of the Society’s members and Society’s activities since its foundation in 1959.

The archival material is stored in a separate section of the Archive of the Department of Ethnology and Cultural Anthropology, at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in Zagreb. The Archive abides by the Rulebook on the Protection and Processing of Archival and Public Material of the Croatian Ethnological Society.

The preservation and management of the material is supervised by the Croatian State Archives. The material (16 meters in length) is analytically catalogued, processed and arranged according to the criteria of the archival profession. It contains copies of Etnološka trbina, Izvješća and Etnološki pregled, published by the former Association of Ethnological Societies of Yugoslavia (SEDJ), as well as copies of all editions (co-)published by the Society (as part of hed-biblioteka or as special editions).

The largest part of the records consists of the documentation related to the Society’s organization and management, financial and accounting documents, documents on members, Society’s publishing activities and documentation on the Milovan Gavazzi award.

Part of the material consists of the documentation on the School of the Croatian Ethnological Society (from 2001 to 2005), activities of Etnološki klub [Ethnology Club], photo documentation and documents on numerous events organized by the Society’s members.
